I-64 East of Kingshighway

Owner:  Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), Bridge Division

Location: I-64 (Sarah to Kingshighway), St. Louis City, MO

Millstone Weber was awarded two contracts with a combined cost of $25 million. This project includes 5 bridge replacements, 64,000 SF of MSE walls, and 42,000 SY of concrete pavement through one of the busiest highways in the St. Louis metropolitan area. The scope of the project improves the interchange at Interstate 64 and Tower Grove, constructs new pavement between Newstead and Kingshighway, resurfaces the interstate between Sarah and Kingshighway, and replaces four bridges over the interstate.

Special challenges included the coordination of 4 weekend closures of I-64 to minimize impact to the community and events in the City of St. Louis for demolition of existing structures.  With careful planning and execution, all closures and demolition were completed without incident and within the weekend allowable closure period for each structure.

Construction of the PSB project began in January 2013 and was completed in September 2014.
